Regarding your IWB question, that can vary from person to person depending on the setup and preference, so we can't say for certain which option would work best for you.

Bought this charge handle for my S&W shield. I have true glow fiber optic sights which seems to be a little bigger than the factory ones. That being said I took a little hobby knife to trim the back and around the sides to bring it in a little closer to tighten up the bolt. It works very well and no complaints on a personal note I personally don't care for the way it looks like it almost needs to be a little lower profile on the top half but I understand that subjective and an opinion. But functionality it works great

As far as the unit in use I just got this so no experience for longevity yet. It did require a lot of trimming with an Exacto knife due to way too much over molding, I had to remove at least 1/16 " from the slide area as it wouldn't move. I also hade to trim all around the cutout around the area for the sights, At this point the unit fits well and is nice and tight and seems to work very well, time will tell, I makes racking this small compact S&W shield 1st. gen with a very heavy spring way easier for my old hands. Needed some work but well done!

I initially bought this to help my wife rack the slide but it turns out I love it too! The charging handle was easy to install and provides increased purchase for racking. Installation tip: hold the small nut in place with something round that fits in the hole (I used the flat end of a drill bit). This keeps the nut flat and in place so the screw threads can start. I applied a drop of blue Loctite 242 to the screw before inserting.
