Why Choose a Glock Conversion Kit?
Glock conversion kits transform your pistol into a more stable, accurate platform without permanently modifying your firearm. Whether you're focused on home defense, competition shooting, or maximizing your range time, a quality conversion kit offers three key benefits:
- Improved Accuracy: Extended sight radius and stabilized platform reduce felt recoil and improve shot placement by 30-50% at typical defensive distances.
- Better Ergonomics: Two-point contact (grip + brace or stock) provides superior control compared to traditional pistol shooting.
- Enhanced Versatility: Mount optics, weapon lights, lasers, and other accessories on integrated rail systems.
Recover Tactical manufactures three distinct conversion systems—the 20/20 Series, P-IX Platform, and S-PRO—each optimized for different use cases and Glock models. Use our comparison tool below to filter by your specific needs.

Generation Compatibility
Most Recover Tactical conversion kits are compatible with Glock Gen 3, Gen 4, and Gen 5 pistols. However, there are some important notes:
- Gen 1 & Gen 2: Limited compatibility. Contact our support team to verify fit for older generation Glocks.
- Gen 3, 4, 5: Fully compatible with all standard Recover Tactical kits.
- MOS Models: Glock MOS (Modular Optic System) pistols work with all kits. The factory optic plate can remain installed.
- Threaded Barrels: Compatible with conversion kits. Suppressor-ready configurations available.
Which Conversion Kit Is Right for You?
Different shooting priorities require different conversion kit features. Match your primary use case to our recommendations below:
For Home Defense: Choose 20/20 Series
Why it's ideal: Home defense demands quick deployment, reliable operation, and integrated accessory mounting. The 20/20's collapsible brace deploys in 2 seconds and locks securely.
- Weapon Light Ready: Integrated Picatinny rails accommodate any tactical light
- Optic Compatible: Co-witness with your existing iron sights or mount a red dot
- Stable Platform: Reduces adrenaline-induced shaking in high-stress scenarios
- Quick Storage: Collapses for gun safe storage, deploys in seconds
For Competition & Range Use: Choose P-IX Platform
Why it's ideal: Competition shooters need adjustable length of pull, custom grip angles, and extensive accessory mounting. The P-IX's AR-15 buffer tube unlocks unlimited customization.

- Adjustable LOP: Fine-tune length of pull for optimal shooting position
- M-LOK Slots: Mount barricade stops, hand stops, bipods

- Complete Package: Brace, rails, hardware included
- Proven Design: Over 50,000 units sold, field-tested reliability
- Upgrade Path: Add accessories like charging handles and optic mounts later
- Best Value: Comparable kits from competitors cost $100-150 more
For Legal Compliance Priority: Choose 20/20 or S-PRO Stabilizers
Why it's ideal: All Recover Tactical stabilizer braces are ATF-approved and require no NFA paperwork. If you want zero legal ambiguity, stick with stabilizer-equipped kits.
- Clear Classification: Stabilizers are arm support devices, not stocks
- No Registration: No Form 1, no tax stamp, no waiting
- State Compliant: Legal in most states (verify local laws)
- Avoid NFA Complexity: P-IX with AR stock may require SBR registration depending on barrel length
Frequently Asked Questions About Glock Conversion Kits
We’ve answered the most common questions about choosing and using Recover Tactical conversion kits:
Do I need to register my Glock conversion kit with the ATF?
No. All Recover Tactical stabilizer braces (20/20, S-PRO) are ATF-compliant and do not require NFA registration or a tax stamp. They are classified as pistol accessories, not short-barreled rifles.
The P-IX platform with a stabilizer brace is also legal without registration. However, if you install an AR-15 shoulder stock on the P-IX and your barrel is under 16 inches, you would be creating an SBR that requires Form 1 registration.
Which conversion kit fits my Glock model?
The 20/20 series fits full-size and compact Glocks (17, 19, 22, 23, 26, 27). The 20/20N43 fits slim-line models (43, 43X, 48). The P-IX platform is compatible with most double-stack Glocks. Refer to the compatibility table above or use our comparison tool’s filter to see exact model compatibility.
What's the difference between a stabilizer brace and a stock?
A stabilizer brace is designed as an arm support device and is ATF-approved for pistols. It wraps around your forearm to stabilize the pistol during one-handed shooting.
A stock is designed for shoulder mounting. When attached to a pistol with a barrel under 16 inches, it legally converts that pistol into a Short-Barreled Rifle (SBR), which requires NFA registration and a $200 tax stamp.
Key Point: All Recover Tactical conversion kits with braces are legal pistol accessories that do not change your firearm’s classification.
Can I use my existing Glock holster with a conversion kit installed?
No. Conversion kits significantly change the pistol’s dimensions, making standard holsters incompatible. However, most Recover Tactical kits deploy and remove in under 10 seconds, allowing you to quickly switch between concealed carry (with holster) and stabilized configurations (for home/range use).
How much does a conversion kit improve accuracy?
Users typically report 30-50% tighter shot groups at 25 yards compared to unsupported pistol shooting. This improvement comes from three factors: extended sight radius, stabilized two-point contact, and reduced felt recoil. Actual results vary based on shooter skill, ammunition, and specific kit configuration.
Are Recover Tactical conversion kits legal in California?
Yes, with considerations. California restricts certain AR-style features on pistols, but our stabilizer braces are generally compliant. California law is complex and changes periodically, so we recommend:
- Verifying your specific configuration meets current CA requirements
- Contacting our support team for California-specific guidance
- Consulting with a local firearms attorney if uncertain
Similar considerations apply to New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts, and other restrictive states.
What's the difference between 20/20 and P-IX?
The 20/20 uses a proprietary collapsible brace and is optimized for quick deployment. It’s ready to use out of the box and ideal for users who want simplicity.
The P-IX features an AR-15 buffer tube, allowing you to install any AR-compatible stock or brace. This provides maximum customization potential for users who want to fine-tune length of pull, cheek weld, and other ergonomic factors.
Choose 20/20 for: Speed, simplicity, proven performance
Choose P-IX for: Customization, AR-15 parts compatibility, adjustability
Can I add a red dot or scope to my conversion kit?
Yes. All Recover Tactical conversion kits feature Picatinny or M-LOK rails for mounting optics, lights, lasers, and other accessories. Most kits include an integrated upper rail for direct red dot mounting. You can also mount optics to your Glock’s slide using an adapter plate or MOS system, and they’ll work perfectly with the conversion kit installed.
20/20 Series Pistol Stabilizers
Our 20/20 series stabilizers have dominated the stabilizer market from when they were introduced in 20/20. With a starting price of just $99, the kit is lightweight, minimalistic and modular. The kits are highly customizable with many optional accessories available –Â most recently, an AR stock and tube.

S-Pro is the newest addition to our conversion kit family. Taking less real estate than our 20/20 series, it features a metal frame and spring-loaded stock/brace. Like our 20/20, it is highly modular and lightweight. Another feature worth noting is that the kit is made to be compatible with many guns just by switching out a small adapter available for purchase separately.
